Russian power-puncher Arif Magomedov took
another big step up the ladder in the
middleweight ranks, when he won the
Universal Boxing Organization™
Inter-Continental title on Saturday
(November 16) at the Ivanhoe Country Club in
Podolsk, Russia. |

Magomedov took on the usually tough Thomas Mashali
from Tanzania, the reigning WBF African Champion
at Super Middleweight, and showed his great
potential by scoring a decisive knockout at 1:07
of the second round.
After a first round where Magomedov seemed in
control from the start, and worked well to both
body and head, the 21-year-old from Checkhov
finished matters impressively with a perfectly
timed body-shot in
round two.

Mashali tried to beat the count of referee
Alexander Kalinkin, but was deemed too hurt to
continue.
Magomedov, who only turned professional this
past January and also holds the Russian national
title, improved his record to 8-0 (6). Mashali
(24) drops to 9-1-1 (5).
The fight was promoted by Dmitry Bogomolov.
