UBO - Universal Boxing Organization™

By defeating experienced Brazilian Raphael Zumbano, Fabrice “Big Boy” Aurieng is the new Universal Boxing Organization™ World Heavyweight Champion after stepping in at late notice to replace Carlos Takam on Thursday (10.17) in Sarcelles, France.

Aurieng (14-6, 4 KOs) won the vacant UBO title with a very disciplined performance and by being the more active fighter, getting off his shots before Zumbano (33-7-1, 26 KOs) could put his combinations together.

After twelve one-sided rounds where South American champion Zumbano couldn’t find a way to solve the puzzle of Aurieng’s awkward southpaw style, all three ringside judges at the Palace de Villiers scored the bout clearly in favor of the local man:

Brahim Ait Aadi (Belgium): 120-108, Tonio Tiberi (Luxembourg): 118-111 and Sergio Sotelo (Mexico): 119-109. Referee was Christophe Hembert from France.

31-year-old Aurieng, born in Reunion but a Frenchman based in Marseille, is a former UBO Inter-Continental champion, a title he won last year in Guadeloupe.

Coming off three victories in the “Biggers Better” tournament, which he has won twice, he made the most of his unexpected opportunity when Takam pulled out.

Going out on nationwide TV in France, the Fabrice Aurieng vs. Raphael Zumbano UBO World Heavyweight title fight was promoted by former World and European Super Lightweight Champion Khalid Rahilou and his Etoile Production.
