Merced, California´s Jesus “Chiquito” Jaro is set for a shot at the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) world Minimumweight title.

On November 7 in La Estrella, Colombia, Haro (13-3, 2 KOs) will face undefeated Venezuelan national champion Geremys Batista (11-0, 9 KOs) for the vacant title.

Haro (24) lost his pro debut in March of 2020, but came back strong and won his next nine outings to line up a fight for the WBC Youth world title.

In June of 2022 he decisioned unbeaten and very dangerous Mexican Erick Araujo (9-0, 7 KOs), in Mexico, to win that title, his first in the paid ranks.

In April of last year he travelled to Puerto Rico to fight local contender Wilfredo Mendez (18-3-1, 6 KOs) for a WBA world title, but lost the decision and is now hungry to make the most of his second crack at world honours.

Geremys Batista (22) has done little wrong since turning pro in the summer of 2023. In his seventh fight he impressively stopped Enderson Espana (13-2, 10 KOs) in the first round to win the Venezuelan crown.

Last November he successfully defended the national title, and now he is ready for what will be a considerable step up, but one he feels he is ready for.

Haro has the advantage in experience, and likely also in technique, but Batista makes up for those disadvantages with superior punching power. This can only turn out to be an exciting encounter!
