Slovakian up-and-comer Martin Gruy won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Middleweight title on Monday night, December 30, at the Lucerna Hall in Prague, Czech Republic.

In a battle of undefeated prospects, the 26-year-old defeated fellow countryman Tomas Pomahac by third round stoppage, to claim his first title in the professional ranks.

While Gruy was the favourite going in, this was considered an evenly-matched fight with both men getting a big opportunity to make a breakthrough.

Gruy proved to be the stronger on the night, and looked impressive in front of a large crowd on a show promoted by Matous Rajmont.

The new UBO International Middleweight champion improved his professional record to 6-0 (5), and is clearly ready for even bigger challenges as he moves up the ranks.

Pomahac drops to 4-1 (3), but at only nineteen he will have learned a lot and has plenty of time to rebound.
