Valente Wins, Decisions Faretina In UBO Title Fight

In a battle of Italians, Gianluca Valente got the better of Leonardo Faretina to win the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (Europe) Super Featherweight title on Sunday, December 22.

 
 

Headlining a card at the Palazzetto Luigi Marini in his home-town Avezzano, Valente scored a unanimous decision in front of his enthusiastic fans.


After a competitive fight, where Valente scored a knock-down in round seven, judges Paolo Ruggeri, Giorgio Volpin and Patrizio Di Marzio all scored the fight the same: 78-73.


New UBO champion Valente (28) improved his professional record to a deceiving 5-4-1 (2), having only lost decisions to undefeated opponents.


 
 

Coming off four straight wins this year, 32-year-old Faretina, from San Giuliano Milanese in Italy´s Lombardia region, falls to 8-6-1 (3).

The fight was promoted by Marsica Boxe.
