Michal Ryba is the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) world Light Heavyweight champion after winning the vacant title on Saturday night, December 21, at Vodova Arena in Brno, Czech Republic.

The 30-year-old local favourite was determined and conclusive, stopping co-challenger Daniel Wanyonyi from Kenya in the third round.

In the process, Ryba made UBO history as he is now the first man to win UBO subregional, regional, International, Inter-Continental and world titles.

Ryba started the fight aggressively, almost immediately taking control and forcing his experienced opponent on the back-foot.

Wanyonyi, a former African champion and two-time World Boxing Federation (WBF) world title-challenger, tried his best to keep Ryba at bay and landed some decent shots, but was quickly struggling.

In the third round Ryba manoeuvred Wanyonyi to the ropes and unleashed two hard right hands, both of which connected and send the Kenyan down for the full count.

It was clear very early that Ryba had a knockout on his mind, and he impressively got the job done to improve his professional record to 23-12-1 (18). Wanyonyi drops to 30-16-2 (24).

Michal Ryba is living proof that you can come back from adversity, and that losing is not the end if you have will-power and persistence.

He was 7-8 after his first fifteen professional bouts, and now he is a world champion and one of the most accomplished Czech professional boxers of all time.
