In an excellent fight at the Land Star Hotel in Kampala, Uganda, local favourite Frank Kiwalabye outscored Haidari Mchanjo from Tanzania to win the Interim Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) World Super Bantamweight title on Saturday night, November 30.

It was incredibly fast-paced from start to finish, and both boxers shoved tremendous conditioning as they never slowed down for a second during the twelve rounds.

An extremely focused Kiwalabye boxed effectively on the back-foot for most of the bout, while Mchanjo was the aggressor and appeared to be going for the knockout with most of his punches.

But the Ugandan was more active, and landed more punches in most rounds, as Mchanjo loaded up and was dangerous mainly with his overhand right.

In round five Mchanjo went down from a right hand landed by Kiwalabye, but it was ruled a slip and he didn't appear hurt.

It was much of the same for the entire fight, but never boring, and the spectators certainly got their moneys worth with this one.

After twelve highly entertaining rounds, all three judges saw it for Kiwalabye: 119-109, 119-109 and 120-108, scores which, while arguably accurate, didn't reflect the competitiveness of the fight.

The new UBO champion is now 22-2 (17). Mchanjo drops to a very deceiving 19-11-7 (7). The event was promoted by Nara Promotionz.
