It was billed as “Ghana For Peace Fight Night”, but peace was hard to find on Sunday night/Monday morning, November 24-25, as a Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) quadruple-header took place at Bukom Boxing Arena in Accra.

Fouls galore in the ring, fighting in the stands, and chairs and other objects thrown at the boxers by spectators made for an ugly scene on what should have been a great night for Ghana boxing but didn't live up to that expectation.

Entering the ring well past 3AM in the morning, Ghanaian amateur standout Joseph “Jaguar” Commey won the vacant UBO Africa Lightweight title in his pro debut, beating tough compatriot Richman “The Man” Ashelley (12-4, 11 KOs) by unanimous decision.

Judges David Nettey, Nathaniel Kotey and Daniel Abolmeti scored the fight 80-72, 80-71 and 80-72.

Prince Patel, from London in the United Kingdom, captured the vacant UBO world Welterweight title when co-challenger Maxwell Awuku didn't come out for round seven.

Patel is now 32-1-2 (27). Awuku goes to 50-6-1 (34).

Reigning UBO Africa Welterweight champion Sampson Segbedzi successfully retained his title for the second time when challenger Isaac Commey was disqualified in round five after a blatant head-but.

Segbedzi improves to 9-0 (7), while Commey drops to 8-2 (8).

United Kingdom´s Tony Bange took home the vacant UBO world Super Middleweight title when late substitute Theophilus Ofrei Dodoo retired on his stool after seven rounds, claiming a leg injury.

Bange is now 13-2 (2). Dodoo 10-3-1 (10).

The show was promoted by Box Office Sports Promotion in association with BROWNED WORLDWIDE.
