Italy-based Peruvian Juan Vargas Velasquez was nothing short of vicious when he won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Light Heavyweight title on Saturday, November 23, in Turin.

Facing the tough Rasim Alunovic from Bosnia & Herzegovina, the undefeated 29-year-old firmly took control in round three when he scored two knock-downs with hard, well-placed shots to the liver.

Alunovic gamely beat the referees count both times, and tried to fight back as much as possible, but it was an uphill battle from that point on, with Velasquez in his groove.

Velasquez threw sharp and hard punches and was clearly looking for a knockout, flooring Alunovic with another liver-punch in round five.

Again he made it to his feet and was allowed to continue, but when Velasquez went for the finish again, the corner of Alunovic threw in the towel.

It was an impressive performance from Velasquez, who took his record to 10-0 (5). Alunovic (25), who couldn't have tried harder, drops to 4-2 (2).

The fight headlined a show promoted by ASD Manno Boxing at the Palazzetto Le Cupole.
