Pinoy puncher Joepher Montano added the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (Asia) Welterweight title to his already extensive collection of belts, when he stopped Shiva Thakran from India in five rounds on Sunday, October 6, at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

El Gwapito” Montano, now 19-5-2 (17), looked on point and in control from the first bell, boxing nicely while former WBC Asia Champion Thakran (19-5-1, 10 KOs) tried to find ways to offset the Filipino, who was finding a home especially for his body-punches.

By round three Montano was dominating from his southpaw stance, and it looked as if he had Thakran hurt at one point. In round four he hurt the Indian again with a right hook, but was not able to take advantage of the moment.

In round five it appeared as if Thakran hurt his hand as he turned away, but then continued fighting when Montano went after him.

But when trapped in a corner Thakran didn't defend himself as Montano landed several hard straight left hands, knocking him down. Referee Worawuth Duankhao counted him out at 1:31 of the fifth stanza.

It was a flawless performance from Montano (28), who has previously won Asian Boxing Federation Super Lightweight and Welterweight titles, as well as WBO Oriental and WBA Asia Welterweight titles.

The fight was part of FCC 7: Double Impac II, promoted by FCC Promotions in association with Highland Boxing Promotions.
