The contrasting styles, and perhaps the
inexperience of Atangana, at times made it a
little messy, but when Atangana was in his rhythm
he managed to avoid most of Dawrani´s wild attacks
after landing his own punches from range.
Atangana was more effective in most rounds, but
Dawrani had a strong finish, probably realising he
needed to at least score a knock-down, but it was
too late as Atangana fended off his charges.
Judge Peemai Posuwan scored the fight even at
95-95, but judges Chunlathon Tharakhachat and
Phakaphon Songmani had it 96-94 and 97-93 for
Atangana.
The new UBO Continental (Asia) Super Middleweight
champion remained undefeated at 7-0 (2), and will
have learned a lot from coming through his biggest
test to date.
Dawrani comes up short in his second championship
fight, having lost a decision to 14-0 Ismat
Guliyev for the WBC Asia title last May, and drops
to 10-5-1 (7).
