Kazakhstani teenager Timur Bassitov (19) won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (Asia) Light Heavyweight title in only his second pro fight on Saturday, August 17, at Singmanassak Muaythai School in Pathum Thani, Thailand.

Bassitov, now 2-0 (2), who impressively defeated 8-1 Sunil Khokhar in his debut last December, took on the much more experienced Prachak Porkha (11-6-1, 5 KOs), from Thailand, and delivered a patient and disciplined performance.

With height and reach on his side, Bassitov boxed effectively from the outside early in the bout, landing his jab and mixing in solid right hands, while Porkha tried to get on the inside.

Bassitov had little trouble controlling the action, but Porkha did manage to land some decent right hands along the way, reminding his opponent that he had also come to win.

However, in round four Bassitov started to land some heavy body-shots, and eventually floored Porkha. The Thai made it to his feet, but the referee had seen enough and counted to ten.

It was an impressive display by the new champion, who proved that he is already ready for bigger challenges in the ring.

The fight headlined a show promoted by Singmanassak Boxing in association with Tap Boxing Management and Tunal Academy.
