Shamara Woods, from Allentown, Pennsylvania, is the new Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Female world Lightweight champion.

Woods won the vacant title on Tuesday evening, August 6, defeating local boxer Lira Huyke at the Coliseo de Pescaito David Ruiz Ureche in Santa Marta, Colombia.

The American won the UBO Inter-Continental title at Super Lightweight at the same venue last February, so was returning with good memories.

Huyke entered the fight coming off four straight stoppage wins, but it was another good night for undefeated Woods, who had little difficulties dispatching the Colombian in three rounds.

Woods improved her professional record to 8-0-1 (6), while Huyke lost her second world title-attempt and drops to 8-6-1 (7).
