It was an
excellent fight, and in most rounds it was
difficult to separate them. Bonicel,
bleeding
from a cut over the right eye from the third
round,
deserves a huge amount of credit for his all-out
attacking attitude, and Ciupitu did very well with
his retaliating.
The last
round was fought at the same pace as the first,
and the decision could probably have gone either
way depending on what you like.
Judges
Diego Guida, Mario Acri and Antonio Nardelli all
scored
it
for Ciupitu: 77-75, 78-75 and 78-74.
The new UBO
Continental champion won his third in a row, as he
improved his misleading record to 6-5 (1). Feeling
hard done by, Bonicel falls to 6-4-2 (2) but also
proved that he is a much better fighter than his
mediocre statistics suggest.
The
UBO Fight of the Year contender
was promoted
by Accademia SSD in association with Boxing Duran
Italia.
