In the main event of a Jeter Promotions card at the Live Casino & Hotel in Hanover, Maryland, Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Continental (North America) Super Middleweight champion Immanuwel Aleem successfully retained his title for the first time on Saturday night, July 20.

Nicknamed “The Chosen One”, Aleem fended off a game challenge from Vitalii Gubkin, fighting out of Alexandria, Virginia, winning by unanimous decision after ten hard-fought rounds.

Gubkin played his part in the fight, and was always looking for ways to unsettle the champion, but Aleem had the upper hand in most rounds and the better punch-selection.

After the final bell judges Howard Smith, Nicholas Chimienti and Paul Wallace scored the fight 97-93, 98-91 and 98-91. Gubkin had a point deducted for losing his mouthpiece numerous times.

Aleem (30), who won the UBO title last February with a fourth round stoppage of another quality opponent in Malcolm Jones, is now 21-3-2 (14).

Gubkin (36), a former American Boxing Federation (ABF) champion coming off four straight wins, falls to 10-5-1 (7).
