a massive card promoted by Star Fight
Productions at
the
Hilton St.
Petersburg Carillon
hotel.
Boxing
on his opponents turf is nothing new for
Riquelmy
(8-1, 6 KOs), who won the UBO Inter-Continental
title last December beating undefeated Colombian
Danny Mena in Medellin.
But,
fighting out of nearby Brandon,
the 2023
UBO Prospect of the Year
is expected to also
have
plenty of support
in
the crowd.

Joseph
Fernandez (18-5-3, 6 KOs) has no intentions of
letting the young man spoil his own dreams of
winning a world title in his home-town.
A pro since
2011, when Riquelmy was only seven years old,
Fernandez
(32) has a clear edge in experience,
having won American Boxing Federation (ABF) and
North American Boxing Association (NABA) titles in
2021 and 2023 respectively.
Will
Riquelmy be too fresh and fast for Fernandez, or
will Fernandez have seen too much, “been there,
done that”, for the youngster? Only time will
tell, but both will be willing to go through hell
and high water to prevail.
