In front of a big crowd on the boardwalk of Salinas, Ecuador, local boxing hero Humberto “Bam Baby” Toledo captured the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ Inter-Continental Lightweight title by stopping Luis Ernesto Jose from the Dominican Republic in round eight on Saturday (9.18).

The fight was promoted by Vladimir Zamora in cooperation with the Salinas Municipal Government, Mayor Vicente Paul Borbor Mite, and supervised by president of the Ecuador Boxing Commission Mr. Pedro Bedón.

Toledo, now 38-6-2 (24), was sharp and focused from the start, and was clearly in front on the scorecards at the time of the stoppage.

“I have trained very hard for this fight, and I am very proud to now be the owner of the UBO Inter-Continental title. This means a lot to me, to my fans and to boxing in my country”, said the new champion after the fight.
