Argentinean Betina Gabriela
Garino is finally champion of
the world. After coming up short
in three previous attempts for
WBA, WBC and GBU titles, Garino
won the UBO Female World
Featherweight title on Friday
May 14 at Club Sportivo Ben Hur
in hometown Rafaela, outpointing
Brazilian rival Michelle
Bonassoli.
The fight, promoted by Mr.
Fabian Heck and his Heck Box
Promotions, got of to an intense
and even start, but from the
third round on Garino began
taking control and started to
land the better and more
powerful punches. However,
Bonassoli was always in the
fight and at times made things
difficult for the more
experienced Garino.
Bonassoli became more effective
in the last few rounds, but it
was not enough to avoid defeat
as the judges scored the fight
95-94 (Sergio Casas Silva), 97-93
(Eder Bustamante) and 97-92
(Eduardo Christaldo). Referee
was Miguel Mansilla. |
