World 168 Lb. Title: Jacobus vs. Singwancha

October 5, 2009 / BY UBO PRESS OFFICER

On October 1st it was announced at a press conference at the Holiday Motel in Port-Vila, Vanuatu that local hero Kali “The Vanuatu Kid” Jacobus will square off with Plaisakda Singwancha from Thailand for the Universal Boxing Organization world super middleweight title on October 24.

The fight will take place at Port-Vila’s Parliament Park, and arranged by Wesley Rasu and the World UBO Vanuatu Committee.

The Vanuatu Kid, 12-3 (9), won the UBO International super middleweight title when he stopped Fijian Temo Kolitapa in July, and with the support of the Vanuatu Government he is now in a position to become a world champion in front of his adoring fans.

But he will not have an easy time against Singwancha, the hard-punching Thai who has stopped thirty-two of his opponents: 38-18 (32), and is riding a three-fight winning streak.

Jacobus vs. Singwancha will be the first ever UBO world title fight on Vanuatu soil, but Universal Boxing Organization Oceania Commissioner Reginald Leca expects it to be just the beginning, with many successful and interesting events in the future.

The Jacobus vs. Kolitapa fight was a big event in Vanuatu, and on October 24 things will only be bigger and more exiting for the local fans.
