On November 21 former IBF and WBF
Intercontinental champion Dariusz Snarski
will attempt to add the Universal Boxing
Organization World lightweight title to his
career-ledger. Snarski, a journeyman turned
champion, will face an opponent to be
confirmed in his hometown of Bialytok,
Poland.
A rejuvenated Snarski is 8-2 in his last ten
bouts. The two losses were in title fights,
and the Polish veteran is coming off two
victories this year. While his overall
record is less than stellar (28-29-2),
Snarski has mixed with absolute world class
and beaten notable names such as James Fenu
(12-1), former European champion Vincenzo
Belcastro (32-12-5) and Frederic Bonifai
(24-5-3).
Snarski won the IBF Intercontinental title
in 2000 by beating Belcastro, and defended
that belt the following year with a
unanimous decision over Bonifai. Two months
later he went toe-to-toe with European
champion, and future WBA world titlist,
Stefano Zoff before loosing on a technical
knockout in the eighth round.
After the Zoff-fight, things started going down hill for
the brave Pole, but after some tough years the tide
turned in 2007 when he won the WBF Intercontinental
crown. He defended that title once before adding the
Polish national title to his collection in 2008. In
December of that year he was only minutes away from
winning the UBC world title when, ahead on two
scorecards, he was stopped on an injury in the twelfth
round. |
