On July 30 at Welkin’s Stadium of Lakatoro, Malekula
Island in Vanuatu, a fight for the vacant Universal
Boxing Organization International super middleweight
title will be contested.
The principals squaring off for the vacant crown are
local star Kali Jacobus and Fiji warrior Temo Kolitapa
in a rematch of a 2006 war that saw Jacobus emerge
victorious by seventh round knockout.
Jacobus, also known as “The Malekula Kid”, will be
attempting to win his third championship as a
professional. He is a former Oceania Boxing Association
light heavyweight champion, and currently holds the
super middleweight version of that title.
The fight is arranged by the Malampa Province government
in association with Wesley Rasu, and will be supervised
by OBO Oceania commissioner Reginald Leca.
