Benguesmia, a former WBO Intercontinental Champion
at Cruiserweight with a victory over future world
champion O’Neil Bell, looked trimmed and ready in
his new weight class, and it appeared obvious that
his mind was set on making a statement against the
experienced Hungarian.
Using his jab effectively, Benguesmia countered
with powerful right hands when Hubert tried to
overwhelm him with flurries, and it quickly became
apparent that the enthusiastic fans in the stands
would have a great night. Benguesmia staggered his
opponent in the second round, but Hubert made it
through the stanza, still fighting back.
The third round was more of the same, with
Benguesmia in control but Hubert putting on a
valiant effort to make his own mark. But in the
fourth it was all over as Benguesmia connected
with a huge right hand that send Hubert reeling,
and referee Gilles Walhin from France had seen
enough.
