Last December Tony “Mo Better” Jeter was
brutally knocked out by Jose Felix. On
Saturday February 25 he got his redemption,
as he won a unanimous decision in the
rematch, and picked up the vacant Universal
Boxing Organization™ All-America
Middleweight title. |

Promoted by Jeter Promotions in association with
Club One Fitness in Millersvile, Maryland who also
hosted the bout, the card, appropriately billed
“Night Of Redemption”, drew a nice crowd, and the
atmosphere was electric during the main event.
The first round was nothing short of amazing. Jose
Felix came out fast, while Jeter moved and tried
to keep him at bay with his jab. As Felix tried to
overwhelm Jeter, the local hero caught him with a
peach of a right hand counter that knocked Felix
down hard. Clearly hurt, Felix got up on shaky
legs as referee Kenny Chevalier administered a
count of eight.
Sensing his opportunity for a quick night, Jeter
was now the attacker and he went all out to finish
his opponent off. Throwing punches from all
angles, Jeter got careless and was caught by a
beautiful right hand from Felix, and now he was
the one on the floor. More surprised than hurt,
Jeter got up smiling and immediately went back on
the attack after receiving his eight-count.
Still trying to finish things in the first, Jeter
once again connected with a good right hand and
send Felix down a
second time, sending the crowd into a frenzy.
But, game as they come, Felix once again got on
his feet to face the onslaught of Jeter. As the
bell rang to end three minutes of pulsating
action, the two competent touched gloves and
acknowledged each other with a smile. It was truly
magnificent stuff. |

While not quite as electrifying as the first, the
next rounds were also thrilling entertainment for
the spectators. Both fighters fought all out to
win, and at times it was a dirty affair filled
with low blows, kidney shots, head buts and
holding. Things got especially ugly in round seven
when Felix complained about a low blow that the
referee didn’t see, and then picked up Jeter and
tossed him to the canvass WWF-style.
Tony Jeter, now 13-3-1 (9), clearly landed the
cleaner and harder shots throughout, and while
Felix was always dangerous it was clear that he
would only be able to win if he could score
another spectacular knockout. That did not happen,
and in the end the verdict was unanimously in
favor of Jeter.
“It was a great fight to be in. We both came to
fight, and we were both in great shape”, said the
new champion after the bout, and continued: “Last
time I was not myself, and I am very happy to get
redemption. I want to thank my whole team for
making this possible. I have the best team!”
Both boxers can hold their head high after this
all-out war. Jeter won the fight, but both are
winners!
