On a show promoted by Warriors Boxing and Sampson
Boxing, Barthelemy put on an impressive
performance and improved his record to 15-0 (11),
while Williams is now 15-1 (3). The bout was aired
live on ESPN2´s Friday Night Fights.
Working well to the body early in the fight,
Barthelemy took control of the action by coming
forward with the heavier punches and being the
more active fighter. Williams mostly relied on
counterpunching, but had a hard time finding
success against the rangy Cuban.
Switching between orthodox and southpaw stances,
Barthelemy often fought with his hands down and
seemed to be frustrating Williams who was unable
to land anything of significance while the UBO
Champion was effective on the outside with jabs
and on the inside with uppercuts.
At the end of the contest there was no doubt who
deserved the victory, but Hylon Williams put up a
good effort and deserves credit for risking his
undefeated record against a fellow up-and-comer
like Barthelemy. |
