Campbell, Ohio’s Jake “The Bull” Giuriceo is the new Universal Boxing Organization™ All-America Lightweight Champion after defeating Bryne Green from Vineland, New Jersey on Saturday night (11.19) at the St. Lucy Hall in Campbell.

The title was left vacant when former champion Mason Menard won the UBO world title earlier this year.

In front of a near sell-out crowd, Giuriceo, who had prepared with world class operators such as Daniel Ponce De Leon and John John Molina Jr., improved his undefeated professional record to 14-0-1 (3) with a unanimous decision over Green, who dropped to 7-5-1 (3).

The show was promoted by Lights Out Management in association with Inside Boxing.

In a competitive fight the local hero was the busier of the two, and used his superior ring generalship and infighting skills to take control, while the game Green at times seemed to be a step behind and outmaneuvered.

Green kept trying though, and had some success with nice counter-punches. But Giuriceo, spurred on by his enthusiastic supporters, never lost his cool and did a great job of boxing and clearly finished the stronger with a very good final round.

After ten entertaining rounds the scores came out 97-93, 96-94 and 99-91 in favor of “The Bull”.

“There was no way I was going to come here tonight and lose to this kid”, Giuriceo told paneech.com after the bout.

“I was hoping for an easier night, couldn’t finish maybe the way I wanted to. I felt excellent during every round, I felt like I won every round. I even think the scoring was a little off, except for the one judge who had me losing only one round.”

Immediately after being crowned the new UBO All-America Champion, Giuricero announced from the ring that he is getting married to his fiancée Jackie next May, and that the reception will be held in the same venue, the St. Lucy Hall.

“I might wear the belt to the wedding”, said the proud new champion with a smile.
