Born in Chicago by Puerto Rican parents,
23-year-old Evette Collazo (4-2, 2 KOs) was a
two-time Chicago Golden Gloves amateur champion
before turning to the pro game in September 2007.
She made her debut with a first round stoppage of
Christina Jones, and won three more fights before
dropping a close majority decision to the more
experienced NABA Champion Jenna Shiver in October
2010.
In her last fight, this past June, Collazo lost
another close call to Melisa St. Vil for a WIBA
regional title, and arguments could be made that
with a little luck she would still be undefeated.
On September 10 she has a non-title fight lined up
in Peoria, Illinois, and coming right back in
another championship fight after that shows the
desire and ambition of Collazo, and she will be
going all out to capture her first professional
title on October 1.
Carla Torres (3-1, 0 KOs) is 19 years old, and
started her pro career in October 2010 with a
unanimous decision over the undefeated Jenifer
Wood. She suffered her first and so far only pro
defeat four months later when she took on 4-0
Ronica Jeffrey (currently 8-0 and NABF champion)
and lost on points. |
