Ranches ”Kid Blast” Barthelemy, now 13-0 (10), won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ International Lightweight title on Friday night at the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, when he scored a unanimous decision over Gerardo Robles.

The fight was part of Warriors Boxing’s ESPN broadcasted “Fight Nights At The Cosmopolitan”.

Miami-based Cuban Barthelemy was the aggressor throughout and always looking to land one of his knockout blows, but Robles had come to fight and consistently scored with body shots. However, Barthelemy was much busier, and always seemed to be in control.

After an entertaining bout, all three judges had Barthelemy as the winner and he collected his careers first professional championship. The game Robles, now 14-10 (6), proved to be a good test for the highly touted prospect, and it will be interesting to see where “Kid Blast” goes from here.

In Port of Spain, Trinidad, Jo Jo Dan had little trouble disposing of late substitute Iwan Azore in their fight for the vacant UBO Inter-Continental Welterweight title.

New UBO Champions Jo Jo Dan and Rances Barthelemy!

It was apparent early on that Dan, a native of Romania fighting out of Canada, was very determined to win impressively, and he took the fight to Azore and effectively scored with left hooks to body and head. Azore took the punches well, at first, but it soon started to wear him down and his own attacks became less and less of a threat to Dan.

In round three Dan (real name Ionut Dan Ion) stepped things up a notch and had Azore on the ropes several times. When he caught him with a hard left to the body followed by a left to the head, Azore staggered and went to the ropes again where Dan threw around twenty punches without anything coming back from the Guyanese champion.

The end came at 2:45 of the third round when the referee stepped in to save Azore. With the victory the new UBO Inter-Continental Welterweight champion improved his record to 29-1 (16), while Azore dropped to 13-4-3 (3).

The show was promoted by Unified Boxing Promotions in association with Floyd Trumpet Boxing Productions.
