UBO - Universal Boxing Organization™

A big UBO Championship weekend lays ahead, with five title fights scheduled for Las Vegas, Port of Spain (T & T), Lubumbashi (DRC) and Jurmala, Latvia. Unfortunately the planned All-America welterweight title fight in Gary, Indiana is off, as no qualified opponent could be found when Edward Ochoba pulled out of fighting Jermaine White.

Friday July 29: In Las Vegas Rances “Kid Blast” Barthelemy (12-0, 10 KOs), from Cuba but now residing in Miami, will square off with Gerardo Robles (14-9, 6 KOs) for the vacant UBO International Lightweight title.

It was originally to be for the Super Featherweight title, but a catchweight was agreed and so the fight will be inside the 135 Lbs. limit and for the Lightweight title.

Location: Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.

Promoter: Warriors Boxing Promotions / Leon Margules.

TV: ESPN.

Friday July 29:  Canada-based Romanian Jo Jo Dan (28-1, 15 KOs) is set to take on Guyanese champion Iwan Azore (13-3-3, 3 KOs) for the vacant UBO Inter-Continental Welterweight title in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. Azore is a substitute for Floyd Trumpet, who had to withdraw with an injury last week.

Location: Jean Pierre Sports Complex.

Promoters: Unified Boxing Promotions & Floyd Trumpet Boxing Productions.

Friday July 29: In Jurmala City, Latvia a UBO double header is shaping up to be a very interesting evening of boxing, as Andrejs Barabanovs (9-1, 5 KOs) fights Giorgi Tevdorashvili (8-5-2, 5 KOs) for the UBO European Light Heavyweight title.

The co-feature is for the vacant UBO Female International Featherweight title, and a battle for local pride as Latvia-based Armenian Agnesse Boza (5-5, 3 KOs) fights Julija Cvetkova (4-3-1, 1 KO). Boza, a former WIBF World title challenger, must be considered the favorite, but Cvetkova is known for her uncompromising fighting style, so it will be a tough battle.

Location: Jurmala Ice Hall.

Promoter: Aleksejs Ivanovs.

Saturday July 30: UBO All-Africa Heavyweight Champion, and former International Cruiserweight Champion, Matamba Postolo (13-0, 8 KOs) will attempt to win his third UBO title when he, back at Cruiserweight, goes for the vacant Inter-Continental crown in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo.

Postolo will fight Argentina-based Bolivian Guido Santana (11-4, 7 KOs).

Location: Stade de la Kenya.

Promoter: Manda Mukadi.
