It is now confirmed that local hero Floyd ”Blade” Trumpet will take on US-based Puerto Rican Daniel Sostre for the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ Inter-Continental Welterweight title on June 25 in Chaguanas, Trinidad.

The fight will be promoted by Unified Boxing Promotions in cooperation with Floyd Trumpet Fight Productions, and the show will also feature two female world title fights involving Ria Ramnarine and Lorissa Rivas.

Trumpet, 16-8-2 (9), is a former WBA Fedecaribe champion, and is coming off four straight victories. He was originally scheduled to fight for the UBO title in March, but various obstacles forced the fight to be postponed.

The Blade is a former WBF and IBA World title challenger, and will enter the ring with considerably more experience than his ten years younger opponent.  This will be his eighth title fight, while it will only be the fourth for Sostre.

Nicknamed “The Hudson Valley Kid”, Sostre will bring a stellar 11-3-1 (4) record, and is undefeated in his last ten fights.

After losing his professional debut in 2005, and three of his first five outings, he has since done very well and won the New York State Welterweight title in 2009 and made two successful defenses before vacating the title in 2010.

Trumpet vs. Sostre shapes up to be a very interesting encounter between experience and youth. It remains to be seen which advantage will prevail, but no matter what it should be an entertaining fight.
