| Undefeated Congolese Maroy Sadiki captured the vacant
Universal Boxing Organization™ All-Africa Cruiserweight title on Saturday (August 14) when he won a unanimous decision after ten hard-fought rounds against Udida Muayila from Zambia in his hometown of Matadi, D.R.C. The bout, sponsored by governor of Bas-Congo Mr. Simon-Floribert Mbatchi Batcha and promoted by Mukadi Manda, was the third UBO title fight in D.R.C. this year, and like the two previous this one was also a competitive and entertaining affair. Thousands of enthusiastic spectators saw their local hero prevail and improve his professional record to 10-0-1 (5), while Muayila lost for the first time in the pro ranks and fell to 8-1 (1). Just two weeks earlier another Congolese Cruiserweight, Matamba Postolo, won the UBO International title, so, who knows, maybe a new rivalry was born on Saturday night, and maybe a “Congolese Superfight” between Sadic and Postolo is in the cards for the future. UBO Supervisor was Claude Kaninda. |
