Zoltan Petranyi Still UBO European Champion

The fight was the first main event at the newly-opened Gentlemen Fight Club Boxing House, a 300 square meters venue which is specifically designed to host professional and amateur boxing events mainly arranged by Profibox Promotions.
 

In what was an even and well-boxed affair, Petranyi was a bit busier throughout and was narrowly ahead on the scorecards when the bout was stopped, at 2:14 of round eight, due to a cut on the defending champions left eyelid caused by an accidental foul.
 

Judges Miklos Dory, Bela Florian and Zoltan Enyedi scored for Petranyi: 77-75, 77-75 and 78-74. Referee in charge was former World Featherweight Champion Istvan “Koko” Kovacs.

“The blood dripped directly into my eye, so I could not continue, and the doctor made the right decision”, said Petranyi after the fight.

Petranyi improves his professional record to 49-20 (14), while Palko drops to 16-5 (13).

In an interesting undercard fight, former World Light Welterweight and Welterweight Champion Suleymane Mbaye from France returned to the ring with a second round stoppage of Hungarian Laszlo Haaz. Mbaye is now 40-4-1 (22).
