UBO - Universal Boxing Organization™

Mohamed Merah made himself and the city of Douai (France) proud on Friday (3.15) night at the Salle Gayant, when he passed his careers biggest test to date and captured the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ International Light Heavyweight title.

25-year-old Merah defeated Germanys Steve Kroekel (31) by unanimous decision after ten entertaining rounds, and improved his professional record to 6-1-3 (1).

The loser fell to a deceiving 17-22-2 (7), but can be proud of a game effort from start to finish.

Merah, spurred on by the loud cheers of the partisan crown, fought aggressively but controlled, and won most of the rounds by being more active than his vastly more experienced adversary.

In the end there was no doubt as to who the winner would be, but both fighters deserve credit for a good performance and a good fight.

The Mohamed Merah vs. Steve Kroekel UBO International Light Heavyweight title fight was promoted by Douai Boxing Club and Robert Pantigny.
