25-year-old Merah defeated Germanys Steve Kroekel
(31) by unanimous decision after ten entertaining
rounds, and improved his professional record to
6-1-3 (1).
The loser fell to a deceiving 17-22-2 (7), but can
be proud of a game effort from start to finish.
Merah, spurred on by the loud cheers of the
partisan crown, fought aggressively but
controlled, and won most of the rounds by being
more active than his vastly more experienced
adversary.
In the end there was no doubt as to who the winner
would be, but both fighters deserve credit for a
good performance and a good fight.
