Nursultan Smail won the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Super Lightweight title after an intense battle with Ratthakorn Thatsaworn on Sunday, November 30, in Bangkok, Thailand.

Both the stylish Kazakhstan-puncher (21) and the rugged Thai (21) looked comfortable trading power-shots from the start, which made for a very entertaining main event at the Highland Boxing Gym.

Thatsaworn tried to close the distance so he could land his hooks up close, while Smail clearly wanted to keep things long to fire off hard combinations. Both did well with their tactics, making it very competitive.

From the end of round four Smail started to get the upper hand, landing more and cleaner than his foe, but Thatsaworn never stopped trying and was always dangerous.

Round five was hard for Thatsaworn to get through, but he continued to show his fighting spirit and used his vast experience to last the entire three minutes.

However, in round six Smail stunned him with a left hook and followed up to score a knock-down. Thatsaworn was badly hurt and not able to continue, and the fight was waved off as a consequence.

The new UBO Inter-Continental champion is now 6-1 (6), going undefeated since losing his pro debut in 2023. Thatsaworn, a pro since the age of fifteen in 2019, falls to 24-20-1 (14).
