The new UBO
world champion improved her record to 5-2-1 (1),
with her last
three fights being victories in her opponents
back-yard.
Trejo drops to 4-4-1 (1), but is a much better
boxer than those mediocre statistics suggest.
In the evenings
co-feature, former world title-challenger Sarah
“Savage” French returned to the ring after more
than three years out, and went straight into the
fire against Suzana Rodriguez Griffin with the UBO
International Welterweight title at stake.
Despite the
expected ring-rust, French put on an excellent
performance and emerged victorious by unanimous
decision:
80-72
(Judge
William Lerch),
79-73
(Judge
Cassandra Lewis)
and
78-74
(Judge
Andrew Thorp).
French showed
that she is still a top-class fighter, as she
improves her record to 6-2-2 (0) and puts herself
in line for a shot at UBO world honours. Rodriguez
Griffin can be proud of her performance, but falls
to 6-2 (3).
