Harv War Bangerz Boxing staged a Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) championship twin-bill at Cicero Stadium in Cicero, Illinois, on Saturday August 30.

In the main event, Mexican compatriots Moni Trejo and Anyela Lopez squared off for the vacant UBO world Super Bantamweight title.

It was considered a fifty-fifty match-up, and as expected it was a well-fought encounter. But Lopez, fighting out of Tuczon in Arizona, was the sharper boxer and showed that she may be a hidden secret in the sport.

Judges Alfredo Gallardo, Barry Wolff and Lukasz Korzun scored the fight 99-91, 98-92 and 97-93 respectively, all for 34-year-old Lopez, who recorded the biggest win of her career.

The new UBO world champion improved her record to 5-2-1 (1), with her last three fights being victories in her opponents back-yard. Trejo drops to 4-4-1 (1), but is a much better boxer than those mediocre statistics suggest.

In the evenings co-feature, former world title-challenger Sarah “Savage” French returned to the ring after more than three years out, and went straight into the fire against Suzana Rodriguez Griffin with the UBO International Welterweight title at stake.

Despite the expected ring-rust, French put on an excellent performance and emerged victorious by unanimous decision: 80-72 (Judge William Lerch), 79-73 (Judge Cassandra Lewis) and 78-74 (Judge Andrew Thorp).

French showed that she is still a top-class fighter, as she improves her record to 6-2-2 (0) and puts herself in line for a shot at UBO world honours. Rodriguez Griffin can be proud of her performance, but falls to 6-2 (3).
