Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Super Welterweight champion Francesco Lezzi successfully defended his title for the first time on Thursday, November 3.

Having won the title last May, Lezzi fended off the game challenge of compatriot Mirko Marchetti at the Pala Melfi in Brindisi, Italy.

After ten round of entertaining action, where both men had their moments but Lezzi got the better of most exchanges, the 33-year-old from Bari won by unanimous decision: 96-94, 97-93 and 97-93.

Lezzi, who has completely turned his career around after a long period fighting as a journeyman, is now 17-21-3 (3) and undefeated in his last five outings.

Lazio´s Marchetti, coming off six straight victories but taking part in his first title fight, drops to 8-3 (0).

The fight was promoted by Lezzi Boxing Team.
