Q: You won the UBO title
on July 2, beating Melvin Wassing. How did you
experience that fight?
A: I was in great shape.
In front of my people I was really exited. I
wanted so bad give to them a wonderful night of
boxing, and I did it. Melvin is a good fighter,
but I was ready to knock anyone out. Even
without the medical stoppage, he would not have
heard the last bell.
Q: Will you be back in the ring soon?
A: After the summer break
I will speak to my team to find the best way to
make another big statement before the end of
2022. Maybe a defence of the UBO International
title, or why not something more? World title is
in my plans, so “the sky is the limit”.
Q: Tell me one thing that
most people probably don't know about you?
A: I'm a very sensible
man. I hate violence outside the ring. My
friends can’t believe my job is to break the
face of my opponent, but sport is not violence.
Violence is not in my nature.
Q: How did you get the
nickname "Spartan"?
A: It is a gift from a Ukrainian history
professor whom I meat in 2010 during a
tournament I won against a Ukrainian boxer.
After the first round I was down by 10 points,
but at the end of the fight I had done the
miracle and won.
He told me that I was like the 300 Spartans that
never gave up, so since that moment I was
“Spartan”.
