The
35-year-old from Nairobi challenged for the UBO
Inter-Continental title already in his fifth
paid bout, losing a tough and close fight on
points to former IBO World Champion Mbwana
Matumla (19-6 at the time).
He lost
his next three after that as well, all on
points, and looked destined for journeyman
status before rebounding to win the Kenyan
national Super Flyweight crown in May of 2013.
Between
2013 and 2022 he has only lost three fights, one
of which was against Ghanaian hero Joseph Agbeko
(36-5), and in May of 2018 Ochieng won the UBO
International Bantamweight title when he stopped
Ramadhani Kumbele (21-13-4) in two rounds.
