Michal Ryba is the new Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) East Europe Light Heavyweight Champion, after defeating Giorgi Abramishvili on Saturday evening, May 28, in Brno, Czech Republic.

In the main event of an outdoors show at the TJ Tatran Bohunice, 28-year-old Brno-born Ryba emerged victorious by unanimous decision after a competitive and entertaining fight.

Abramishvili had not come to give Ryba an easy night, and looks were clearly deceiving as the out-of-shape-looking Georgian was game from start to finish and never stopped coming forward.

But, while Abramishvili attempted to gain control of the fight on the front foot, Ryba boxed cleverly on the retreat, and countered effectively and mixed in his own spurts of aggression.

As the rounds went, Ryba firmly established his southpaw jab and connected frequently with his straight left hand and well-placed body-punches.

Abramishvili (27), from Gurjaani, Georgia, took the shots well, and tried to retaliate but found it more and more difficult to find significant success in the middle rounds.

But, perhaps sensing he needed a knockout to win, Abramishvili finished the fight strongly and the last two rounds were probably his best. Ryba appeared uncomfortable at times, but was never in any real trouble.

In the end Ryba was deservedly declared the winner, as judges Pavel Hynek and Radekl Linka both scored it 99-91, while judge Bohumil Ruckschlos had it 98-92, all in his favour.

The new UBO East Europe Champion improved his professional record to 9-9-1 (7). Abramishvili drops to 14-22-1 (4).
