Two highly touted, and unbeaten, prospects will collide on May 13 in Istanbul, Turkey, as part of a massive bill staged by Serdar Avci Promotions.

Home-grown Emre Karaceper (4-0, 2 KOs) takes on Ukrainian Dzhamal Usmanov (7-0-1, 3 KOs) with the vacant Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) European Light Heavyweight title at stake.

While Karaceper (23) will enjoy home-town advantage, he should be considered the underdog in what will be his first championship contest.

Southpaw Usmanov (22) has, despite only nine pro fights (one No-Contest), already taken part in four title fights, and won the Ukrainian national and WBC Asian Silver Light Heavyweight titles.

In 2019 he challenged for the Ukrainian Super Middleweight title, but the fight against Igor Kudrytskiy (11-0-1) was ruled a No-Contest due to a clash of heads.

Later that year he drew with 9-0 Batal Chezhia in Russia for the WBO Youth World title, so going into the lions den against Karaceper will not be his first time.

In 2020 Usmanov won the Ukrainian Light Heavyweight crown, and last year he scored his biggest victory to date when he captured the WBC title, decisioning another undefeated Turk in Sukru Altay (12-0).

Experience and accomplishments not in his favour, Karaceper must be commended for taking a big step up in class, and he will be highly motivated to do what his countryman, Altay, failed to do.

Its rare to see two up-and-comers fight at this stage of their careers, and it is bound to be a good fight between talented and ambitious boxers.

Also on the card, 18-year-old Dilara Yucel will fight Happy Daudi from Tanzania for the vacant UBO Female World Super Welterweight title.
