Djamel “King” Dahou, the former Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) World Welterweight Champion, has finally returned to the ring after more than four years of inactivity due to his battle against a career-threatening injury.

His fight and determination to overcome an injury which bound him to a wheelchair, and his ability to never lose hope of returning to the ring, is inspirational and admirable.

To learn more about his story, read our interview with Dahou from last summer.

Since that interview, the twenty-eight year old from Algeria has teamed up with Zapari Boxing Promotions in Sinaloa, Mexico, a very accomplished outfit which has committed to help Dahou get back to the top.

On April 1 in Santa Maria del Oro the hard work and dedication came to fruition when he boxed for the first time since March of 2017, and beat an opponent by the name of Jesus Romero in twenty seconds of the first round.

In reality, his official comeback fight was six days earlier, on March 26 in Tepic, when he was in the ring with one Israel Laureano, but Laureano, for whatever reason, refused to fight and Dahou was awarded the highly unusual victory by technical knockout at 00:01 of the first round, with ZERO punches thrown!

So, as can only be expected, the opposition was very soft, but Dahou did his part and can now boast a fine 16-0 (15) record. The hard part was the years of agony and frustration leading up to the comeback, and Dahou has shown he is a true warrior.

Dahou is now hoping to fight another three or four times in the coming months, and eventually the goal is to regain the UBO World Welterweight title he never lost in the ring.

Congratulations to Djamel Dahou for the amazing accomplishment his return to the ring is. Definitely one of the biggest accomplishments of any current or former UBO champion!
