rematch which has been over seven years in the
making, as they made their professional debuts
against each other in 2014. Back then, Macho
Yusufu prevailed by majority decision after four
the winner seemingly retired from the sport,
while Vunjabei went on to win and defend the UBO
International title at Light Flyweight, and
challenge for the WBF World championship in
France, losing on points to Anne Sophie Da
But in 2020
Macho Yusufu, still only twenty-five, made a
comeback, and has since won two fights
convincingly, defeating former world
title-challenger Flora Machela and Zambian
prospect Alice Mbewe.
She now gets a
major opportunity to make up for lost time in a
second go-around with Vunjabei, also twenty-five
years old, for the UBO world title.
will be confident she can prevail again, while
Vunjabei is eager to get revenge. Time will tell
who is crowned UBO world champion on March 27.
