Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) Inter-Continental Middleweight Champion Christian “Coqqos” Schembri will make the first defense of his title on Saturday September 28 at the Dolmen Hotel in Bugibba, Malta.

The 27-year-old local man, who brings a record of 16-6 (7), will face Czech puncher Jan Marsalek (5-1, 5 KOs) in the main event of a big televised event promoted by Prize Boxing Promotions.

Schembri, a professional for almost exactly four years come fight-night, won the UBO Inter-Continental title last March when he stopped Georgian Paata Varduashvili in six rounds.

In his most recent outing, on July 27, Schembri scored a unanimous decision over Italian Giovanni D´Antoni, while Marsalek (31) is coming off two stoppage victories since suffering his sole defeat in April.

If victorious on September 28, Schembri could be in line for a crack at the vacant UBO World Middleweight title before the end of the year, but he will be wise to not underestimate the danger of Marsalek.
