Gabriel Ochieng from Kenya is the new Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) International Bantamweight Champion, winning the vacant title against Ramadhan Kumbele from Tanzania on Saturday May 26 in Nairobi.

In the main event of a show promoted by Team Boxing Promotion at the Impala Rugby Court, East & Central Africa Champion Ochieng was a level above his foe, and after a relatively quiet first round he stepped things up in round two.

Ochieng floored Kumbele three times, but the Dar-Es-Salaam man beat the counts of referee Francis Olando each time. However, battered and beaten, he decided to not come out for round three, making Ochieng the winner by third round technical knockout.

With the victory, 31-year-old Ocgieng improved his professional record to 18-7-1 (14). Kumbele falls to 21-14-4 (9).

A fight for the vacant UBO Female International Lightweight title between Consolata Musanga and Raheme Abdallah was regrettably called off when Abdallah pulled out on short notice.
