Televised live in Ukraine, and the Parkovi Convention Centre in Kiev filled with boxing fans cheering him on, Ihor Magurin is the new Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) World Super Featherweight Champion.

On Saturday night (January 20), undefeated 26-year-old Magurin passed his sternest challenge to date, convincingly scoring a unanimous decision over dangerous Panamanian Barnie Arguelles to win the vacant title.

Arguelles started the fight strong, and in many ringsiders opinion won at least the first two rounds, being the aggressor and landing the harder punches.

But Magurin soon took over, and when the man from La Chorrera started to tire down the stretch it was clear that he needed a knockout to derail the local favorite.

Judges Oleg Kudierov, Viktor Fesechko and Shlomo Niyasov scored the fight in Magurin´s favor by 120-108, 119-109 and 119-110 respectively. Referee in charge of the action was Andriy Baliasov.

The new UBO World Super Featherweight Champion of the world improved his professional record to 8-0-1 (3). Arguelles (27), drops to a misleading 11-8 (8).

The fight was promoted by Union Boxing Promotions.
