The fight turned out to be a messy affair, with
both boxers prone to clinching. In the eighth
round the bout ended in a bizarre manner when
Avila broke from such clinch without keeping his
hands up.
Charles seized the moment and caught Avila with a
quick right hand followed by a left uppercut,
sending his opponent hard to the canvas.
Avila tried to beat the count, but the referee
reached ten before he managed to pull himself
upright, and the official ending came at 3:00 of
round eight.
With the victory Charles improved his deceiving
record to 13-5-2 (5), and Avila fell to 13-9 (6).
