In a
rematch between very evenly matched
co-challengers,
Chile´s Alan Bahamondes became the
Universal
Boxing Organization™
(UBO)
Continental (South America) Light
Heavyweight champion on Saturday night,
August 15, with a repeat victory over
Argentinian rival Fabricio Sposito.

Bahamondes
had decisioned Sposito after a hard-fought and
close fight in November of 2024,
and the rematch, taking place at
a full
Parque Croata in his home-town Antofagasta, was
not much different than the original.
Sposito,
fighting out of Rafaela, Santa Fe, came forward
most of the time, with Bahamondes relying on
counter-shots and working with his jab to keep
his aggressive foe at bay.
The
visitor landed the harder punches, but it was
Bahamondes who was the more active fighter. All
rounds were close, and arguments could probably
be made either way in most of them.

It
wasn't
always pretty, but there was never any doubt that
both men had come to win and was doing all they
could to take control. But neither managed to do
that comprehensively, making it another
close
encounter from start to finish.
After ten,
at times, messy but entertaining rounds, streamed
live by Liga Sports, judges
Humberto
Cappona,
Cristian Mora and Mario Rojas
all
scored it
97-93,
favoring the
consistent activity of
Bahamondes,
who improved his record to 7-0 (3).
Sposito is a
much better fighter than his current 6-5-1 (0)
ledger suggests,
and he can
certainly be proud of his performance.
