Patrico “Pato” Carrion is still the Universal Boxing Organization™ (UBO) world Super Lightweight champion after making a successful first defense of his title on Saturday night, August 8, in Iquique, Chile.

With the support of his enthusiastic home-town fans at the Arena Cavancha, Carrion looked determined and sharp stopping dangerous but out-classed Colombian challenger Gabriel “El Trencito” Jimenez in the second round.

The fight, billed as “La Historia Continúa” (The Story Continues) was the main event of a show promoted by TC2 Boxing.

Jimenez willingly traded with the champion, probably believing he had the edge in power, and had some early success with his body-punches.

But Carrion was too strong for him, hurting Jimenez several times, floored him twice in the first round before getting the stoppage after one knock-down in round two.

Carrion, who won the UBO world title last February, scored his third straight win inside the distance and is now 23-1 (7). Jimenez (22) travels back to Santa Marta at 16-6 (14).
