UBO Latino Super Lightweight Champion Crowned In Mexico

Headlining a show promoted by Rovi Boxing Promotions, the former world title-challenger defeated fellow Mexican Brandon Rosales in a very entertaining scrap, with an anticlimactic ending.

The fight, which was broadcast live by AYM Sports, was intense and action-packed, both men having their moments and preferring to trade punches up close, rather than trying to box from the outside.

In round five Encinia appeared hell-bent on breaking his opponent with body-shots, and the tactic worked as Rosales went down and took the eight-count, before continuing to slug it out for the rest of the round.

Round six was more action, with both boxers giving as good as they got, but when the bell rang to start round seven the corner of Rosales informed the referee that their man would not continue, making Encinia the winner by technical knockout.

Encinia, hoping to work his way back towards a second crack at world honors after losing to Francisco Fonseca in a WBA challenge last November, is now 23-11-1 (10).

Rosales, despite getting stopped, proved that records can be very deceiving, giving the much more accomplished Encinia plenty to think about, is now 7-14-3 (0).
