Angola UBO Champion After Barn-Burner With Olmos

From the start, the undefeated Angola was comfortable counter-punching, while Olmos tried to make the fight physical at close quarters. Both had success with their tactics, as the momentum shifted between them.

It was exciting stuff, and both fighters enjoyed big support from the crowd, a mix of local fans supporting Olmos and Colombians residing in Chile cheering on their fellow countryman.

In round seven Angola scored a knock-down with a right hand to the chin, but Olmos proved his mettle to beat the count of referee Jose Vega, and managed to survive the follow-up attacks from Angola.

The last three rounds were more back-and-forth action, with the crowd on their feet, and as the bell rang to end round ten it was clear that the decision could go either way.

Judges Humberto Cappona and Hernan Bopp both scored it 95-93 for Angola, while judge Nicolas Valenzuela had it 95-93 for Olmos, making the visitor victorious by Split Decision.

Fighting outside his native Colombia for the first time, Angola (21) secured his biggest victory to date and improved his professional record to 8-0 (2).

Olmos drops to 6-3 (3), with all three defeats coming against undefeated foes. At only twenty years old he has plenty of time to rebound, and he should be praised for wanting to test himself against good opponents.
