In the main event of a show at the Mariott
Pyramid Hotel, Clinton Chavez (7-2, 4 KOs) faces
Mario Gonzalez (5-0, 4 KOs) for the vacant UBO
Continental (North America) Super Welterweight
title.
While Chavez is the home-town boxer, Gonzalez is
from Hobbs, also in New Mexico, and is likely to
also have his share of supporters in the crowd.
This past January Chavez went toe-to-toe with
Emeka Nwokolo for the UBO International title,
but was stopped in the fifth round after a game
effort. Nwokolo went on to win the UBO world
title in his next bout.
